Coded in assembly language as an introduction to assembly.
The program simply plays about with your screen before causing a shutdown. (it actually hardware scrolls the screen). It quits all current applications without asking if you want to save any open documents.
The program is optimised for screens in 256 colour mode or less. Although the program will run in other colour modes it has a less dramatic effect, this is due to the fact that I did not make any O/S trap calls and used routines to draw directly to screen.
It is useful to quit all open applications and shutdown without the anoying "Save Untitled 1" etc. dialog boxes from applications with open files. Use at your own risk.
Would be nice to put it in your bosses or friends start-up folder don't you think! This would prevent them from starting up there Mac (it would simply start up, mess with the screen and then shutdown again!!!!). To remove from the start-up folder once installed you would simply re-boot with the shift key held down and then remove the file after boot-up.
This product is "NO-ware" or is it nowhere :-) To use this application you must mail me a message on Cosmos,Portland or the Net "sonic@cosmos-uk.org" and state I am a completely useless person (not me, YOU) and enjoy messing with other peoples Macs.
I completely accept No responsibility for this application and plead insanity during it's creation.
Special thanx to Stu Ball for the 680*0 assembler that created this code - 'Fantasm'. This program is system 7, '040' compatible. It gets the screen address from the system globals and therefore should be compatible for all Macs.
Bye!!!!!!!!!!
